SUMMARY: On April 5, 2024, at approximately 5:24 a.m., VT DMV Inspector Tyler Jacobs responded to a single commercial motor vehicle crash on Vermont Route 15 in Hardwick with no reported injuries. Upon arrival, a loaded tractor trailer combination was found to have left the roadway in an uncontrolled fashion, overturning and coming to its final position of uncontrolled rest on its side down an embankment. The tractor trailer was loaded with granite blocks that were being shipped from Canada to Barre, VT. The driver, Andre Pare, 58, of Waterville, Quebec, was not injured in the crash. He was operating a 2006 Peterbilt tractor that was towing a 53-foot flatbed trailer. VT 15 was reduced to one lane while crews worked to upright the combination and clear the wreckage from the roadway. The carrier is working on contracting with a cleanup crew to finish cleaning up the debris and granite blocks.

Andre Pare was found to be operating too fast for the road conditions. The cause of the crash was found to be driver error.

VT DMV was assisted at the scene by the Hardwick Police Department, Hardwick Fire Department, and Laroche Towing.
